Passing of Ruger Camp #1 Brother Wendell
Greenleaf Small Jr.
It is with regret and
much sorrow that I am informing you of the passing on June 16, 2019 of our
Brother Wendell G. Small.
Wendell is survived by
his wife Chungsim "Lisa" Small of 56 years,
his son Wendell Small III of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers Graham and Glaysen
of Biddeford and Sanford, ME; and two sisters Leona Ansara or E. Hartford, CT.
Gladys of Saco, ME.
A memorial service
will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 19, 2019 at the Gardner’s United
Methodist Church, 4555 Rosehill Rd. Fayetteville, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorial
gifts may be sent to the Maine Historical Society, 485 Congress Street,
Portland, ME 04101.
Wendell joined the
Ruger Camp in December of 2004 deriving his right of SUVCW membership from his
Grandfather Levi Greenleaf Small, PVT Co. I, 1st Maine Cavalry. He served the
Camp well in numerous offices including Camp Commander, Secretary/Treasurer,
Historian, Editor of the Ruger Bugler Camp newsletter, Chaplain, and JROTC
Coordinator. Brother Wendell was a loyal, devoted, and beloved member and
officer of our Camp and our Order, and a friend to all of us. He will be
greatly missed.
I direct the Major General
Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1 to observe a thirty day period of mourning, beginning
today, Monday June 17, 2019. The Camp Charter and membership badges are to be
draped in black for this period in memory of Brother Wendell.
Let us all keep
Brother Wendell and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
