CAMP NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT

Camp Order #3 established the Ruger Camp #1 Nominating Committee for elected Camp officer positions for the 2011-2012 term.  Department Commander Jerry Devine, PCC was appointed as Chairman of this committee and he added Brothers Doug Elwell, PDC and Wendell Small, Jr., PCC to the committee.

The Nominating Committee has completed their work and has issued a Report of Nominations.  I thank the committee for their work.  The Committee’s list of nominations for Camp elected officers for the 2011-2012 term is as follows:

Nominations from the floor for delegates and alternates to the 2012 Department Encampment will be called for at the December 10, 2011 Camp meeting.

All Other Camp officer positions will be appointed by the incoming Camp Commander.

ESTABLISMENT OF CAMP NOMINATING COMMITTEE & APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

Effective immediately, I am establishing a Ruger Camp #1 Nominating Committee for elected Camp officer positions for the 2011-2012 term.  Department Commander Jerry Devine, PCC  is appointed as Chairman of this committee. 

Two additional Camp Brothers will be added to this committee by Chairman Devine.  The Nominating Committee will complete their work and send a “Report of Nominations” to the Camp Commander by November 1, 2011.  Nominations will be forwarded to the Camp membership at least 30 days before the December 10, 2011 Ruger Camp meeting at which Camp Officers will be elected and installed for 2011-2012.

APPOINTMENT OF CAMP COLOR BEARER

(Section 1):  Effective immediately, Brother John France is appointed as Ruger Camp #1 Color Bearer.
 (Section 2):  The activities of the Camp Color Bearer should include:
               i.  Placing the alter cloth and an unopened Bible on the altar prior to the opening of the Camp;
               ii. Presenting the United States Flag during the Pledge of Allegiance by the Camp;
               iii. Attending the altar and stations by removing altar cloth and bible following the close of the Camp;
               iv. Becoming familiar with the duties of the office as set forth in the Order’s Ritual and Ceremonials.

MG Thomas Howard Ruger Camp #1 Order No. 1, 15 November 2010

Effective immediately, the MG Thomas H. Ruger Camp #1, Department of North Carolina, SUVCW, establishes three awards for the purpose of recognizing organizations or people that have made a significant contribution to the support of the beliefs and goals of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

1. The Certificate of Recognition can be awarded to a person or organization - not a member of the Camp - for significant support in time, money, or effort to the furtherance of the goals of the SUVCW. The recommendation will cite the actions and/or efforts for which the nominee is deserving of the award. The recommendation can be attested to by three Brothers knowledgeable of the actions and/or efforts or at the order of the Camp Commander. The award is on the signature of the Camp Commander.

2. The Certificate of Commendation can be awarded to any brother of the Camp who has shown significant support in time, money, or effort to the furtherance of the goals of the SUVCW. The recommendation will cite the actions and/or efforts for which the nominee is deserving of the award. The recommendation will be attested to by three Brothers knowledgeable of the actions and/or efforts or by the Camp Commander. The award is on the signature of the Camp Commander.

3. The Certificate of Appreciation can be awarded to brothers of the Camp who have shown steady support in the furtherance of the goals of the SUVCW by their attendance and actions. The statement of recommendation will cite the actions and/or efforts for which the nominee is deserving of the award.  This certificate is awarded at the discretion of the Camp Commander over his signature.
